Treatment Benefits Of A Scar Camouflage
The Advantages of a Scar Camouflage
How Does it Work?
This is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting pigment into the skin through multiple needle punctures to repigment pale or white skin that has developed as a result of scarring.
Scars that can be tattooed include the following:
- Scars that have developed as a result of surgical operations such as facelift surgery and other general surgical procedures.
- Pale scars from Cryotherapy freezing of sun spots and skin lesions;
- Breast enlargement or reduction scars that occur around the nipple area, underneath the breasts, and in the underarm areas.
Optimising Your Results
Enjoy the Benefits of Scar Camouflage
Your Cosmetician will assess your natural skin colour and tone and recommend the colour that would best camouflage the area you are having treated. We also need to know about sun exposure and tanning to decide on the best colour to allow for seasonal variation on skin colour and tone but obviously these seasonal variations will mean that there may be times when the tattooed area is more noticeable.
We recognise that each client is unique, which is why we customise each session to meet your needs!
At Bloom Clinique, we make it easy to keep your scar camouflage looking gorgeous for longer. With our extensive pre-care and post-care guidelines, we help you take the best care of your scar camouflage tattoo.
Scar Camouflage FAQs
How long does a scar camouflage tattoo last?
A scar camouflage tattoo can last up to 2 – 3 years, though realistically, your scar will start to fade over time and require a touch up appointment between 18- 24 months after your first procedure. The lifetime of your scar camouflage also depends on your skin type, and those with oilier skin may see their scar camouflage fade slightly faster.
Will my scar camouflage tattoo hurt?
The procedure is not painful, thanks to the numbing creams and agents used. You will, however, feel a small, persistent scratching sensation while your scars are being blended.
How many sessions do I need?
It will depend on the nature of the skin colour, the severity of discoloration and absorption of the colour pigments. For dark under the eye, it can be covered in 1 – 2 sessions. However, other scars may require a number of sessions, ranging from 2 – 5 sessions.
How long does it take to heal?
The time it takes for your scar camouflage tattoo to heal depends on you, though there is an average of 10-12 days. You will need to properly care for your scar camouflage tattoo during this time to ensure they heal properly, and that the finished look is the results you wanted!
How long do I have to wait before a touch up?
A touch up can be done after 1 month.
