Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning Brisbane, Bayside
The perfect (pain-free) deep skin exfoliation and skin pick me up!
If you look at the tool used for dermaplaning treatments, you may notice it looks like a razor you would use on your body hair.
The basic concept of dermaplaning is the same as shaving. By aiming a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle and dragging it slowly across your skin, you remove dead cells, scar tissue, and other debris that may be making your skin’s surface look uneven.
Your skin is exposed daily to harsh environmental toxins, irritants, and sun damage. This can cause the top layer of your skin to appear dull, and it can make you look aged. Dermaplaning clears away those damaged skin cells so newer skin cells are what you see when you look in the mirror.
Let’s work together to create the results you deserve
Since this is a deeply exfoliating treatment, we recommend waiting at least a month between appointments, although some client’s with sensitive skin can even limit their treatments once every two to three months.
As long as your skin isn’t sensitive and you aren’t experiencing any major breakouts, dermaplaning is a fairly low-risk way to (a) exfoliate your skin and (b) remove your facial hair.
Pre and Post Preparation Guidelines
Is there any downtime after dermaplaning?
Some light redness can be expected but not always. However, it’s perfectly fine and common to make an appointment during lunch and go right back to work after the 40-minute treatment.
Is Dermaplaning for everyone?
If you have highly reactive, sensitive skin (like those with rosacea or keratosis pilaris), this may not be suitable for you. Don’t worry though, there arestill good ways to exfoliate your skin if dermaplaning isn’t in the cards for you. Just talk to one of our Dermatherapist experts to find out the most gentle exfoliants for you.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
No, it’s not painful. It’s like shaving any other part of the body.
Will dermaplaning cause breakouts?
In fact, it’s the complete opposite. Exfoliation is vital for keeping an even, healthy glow because a build-up of dead skin can clog your pores and hair follicles, which can not only create pimples but also prevent your skincare products from reaching the skin. However, if you already have a breakout, you’ll have to skip this treatment.
Can you wear makeup after dermaplaning?
Have you ever noticed how peach fuzz pops even more under foundation and face powders? Because dermaplaning removes all of the fine hairs on your face, your makeup will slide on with ease. But wait—as tempting as it is to see the effects right away, avoid applying makeup to your face straight after your dermaplaning session.
For the rest of the day, it’s critical to allow the skin to breathe. You can apply cosmetics if you need to, but your skin barrier will be more open and irritated. After your skin has had time to settle (approximately a day), go ahead and apply all the foundation you like.
